Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatments for Hair Restoration:

What is PRP? PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma , which is a product that comes from your own blood. PRP treatments are minimally-invasive, non-surgical procedures that treat hair loss and alopecia (as well as aging skin, dark under-eye circles). When injected or applied topically, depending on the treatment you are receiving, the PRP will work to speed up recovery and greatly improve the quality of your skin. These cells boost growth and reduce inflammation. Human blood is made up of many things, such as plasma, red cells, white cells, and platelets. Platelets help in the healing process by clotting blood. Platelets are made of proteins which help your injuries heal. PRP is a concentrated serum made up of the plasma and platelets found in your blood.

To prepare your PRP for treatment, we will draw a sample of your blood and then process it through a centrifuge in our onsite lab. The blood will be spun for a short period of time (20-30 minutes) to separate your platelets from the other compositions. The result is a concentrated formula of growth and healing factors – the PRP – that will significantly improve your skin. Once the PRP is ready, your treatment can begin.

What Conditions Does PRP Treat?

PRP treatments for hair restoration are performed in-office by Dr. Asfa, following an an initial consult with him to ensure you are a candidate for the procedure.

PRP consult with Dr. Asfa: $90, which will then be deducted from the cost of your treatment when performed the same day.

PRP for Aga Alopecia or Male/Female Pattern Hair Loss, performed by Dr. Asfa; starting at $1950 per session; treatment times vary; package pricing available. Three sessions spaced one month apart are highly recommended for optimal results. To minimize discomfort during this PRP procedure, Dr. Asfa will administer local anesthesia to the area(s) being treated. Substantial evidence suggests that the use of autologous platelet rich plasma (PRP) improves hair growth and thickness in patients with androgenic alopecia or pattern hair loss, as well as prevents further hair loss from occurring. This treatment can also aid in the stimulation of hair growth following hair transplant surgery. There are minimal side effects, such as pain or soreness at the injection sites, bruising, swelling and tenderness. These side effects typically last a few days.
